Yomar Augusto

I came across this artist through another blog and found this beautiful bit of typography exhibiting some lovely soft edges and crisp subtle lines. There are some other examples of typography and also the website is quite nice as you navigate through different sections. Check the link below.

It's nice that

A blog full of new and interesting work in design. A real gem full of inspiration.

The Shock of The Lightning

New Oasis song, another great song full of drums from the band from Manchester, looking forward to the album.

6th Crossing at Dubai Creek

Dubai continues to grow at an astounding pace and this is a new bridge which will become the biggest, tallest arch bridge in the world. New York Architect, FXFOWLE’s proposal for the architectural design of a 1-mile long and 673-feet tall bridge in Dubai won a design competition. It is striking to say the least to see how design is evolving, the clean flowing lines meant to represent the sea is amazing in its design and truly fits with the Dubai style. However I was wondering whether it is quite as remarkable as the architecture of old. The first bridge constructed of iron aptly named Ironbridge (shown) is a marvel for its design and construction for the time it was built (1779). It is beautiful, each large piece is different due to the welding at the time and set in its own scenery it is as striking as current architecture. This is something I have been thinking about recently and it is quite an issue that I feel would be worthy of exploring.

Paco Rabanne Advert

This advert struck me just because of how everything in it epitomizes 'cool' or what is meant to be cool. The male model is perfect everything he does is lavish and over exaggerated he's got the money, car, girl and status but this is what the target audience want, they crave this lifestyle and the product becomes an accessory to your lifestyle. How the advert is shot is what intrigued me the light and dark contrast with just a brief burst of gold to enhance the luxury really works well.

Rembrandt

The work of Rembrandt is extremely powerful, he uses the juxtaposition of light and dark to create the chiaroscuro effect (the contrast between light and dark). He creates violent contrast using diagonal lines and juxtaposed colours but maintains a great sense of realism. I find this inspiring how contrast is used to create such images and the painting skills are sublime.

Audi TT Advert

Audi a innovative well thought of car brand have created this advert for the new Audi TT TDI which is extremely fuel efficient with an ability to run for 700 miles on a single tank incredible for a sports car that can do 0-62 mph in 7.5 seconds. The advert simply shows a outlined Audi TT created from a fuel pump with the exhaust the nosel. The stark contrast of white against the black is something that interests me. What I like about this is that it tells you exactly what it is about in the most cut back manor.
